Lunches We contract with Calaveras River Academy for our food services and hot lunches. They are currently in the process of hiring someone after receiving notice that their previous employee would not be returning. Unfortunately, we will only be able to offer shelf-stable lunches while they are in the process of hiring someone. Families must still sign-up 5 days in advance through the lunch program and list "Shelf Stable" as their chosen lunch. We need to know in advance to make sure we have enough items to make the necessary lunches. Once they have someone hired, we will post the hot lunch menu. Families are still required to sign up 5 days in advance for the shelf-stable lunches. Posted 4/2/25
Lunches Just a reminder that if you signed up for lunch and are not going to be on campus to get lunch please let us know before 11:00 that day. That way we have time to inform the cafeteria lady and she won't prepare the food. Just today alone we had 11 out of 18 students not show up for the lunches they ordered. That is a lot of wasted food. At some point, it could become an issue and we could lose the hot lunch program and only be able to offer shelf-stable lunches to our families. Posted 11/12/24
Restroom Vape Sensors Dear Mountain Oaks Community Members,We have recently installed vape sensors in the All Gender Restrooms and the Student Restrooms in the gym hallway. These sensors will alert staff when anyone is smoking or vaping in these restrooms. Anyone who is seen leaving the restrooms after the vape alert (cameras are in the hallways) can face investigation and potentially discipline. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns regarding the vape sensors.Thank you, Kathleen Lewis, Administrator
Immunization Requirements 25-26 School year After the passage of Senate Bill 276 in January 2020, new immunization rules were implemented at Mountain Oaks School. Mountain Oaks has always been understanding and supportive of parent choice, while operating within the legal guidelines set by the California Department of Education. We continue to enroll students without current immunizations as independent study only students. We also inform independent study only students that they would not be eligible for enrollment in workshops, classes, events and other group school activities.I have provided an attachment and a link to the current immunization requirements: CA Immunization RequirementsIn the 2025/26 school year, our school and country nurse will be auditing all workshops, classes, outings, and school events for student immunization status before approving enrollment/attendance at the event. The audit will verify that all enrolled students participating in on-campus and/or group activities (such as workshops and field trips) have up-to-date immunization records reflecting one of the following statuses:● On Schedule with Immunizations● Students with IEPs will continue to participate in those activities and workshops that are part of their assigned services. This includes lunch.● A current state medical exemption will allow you to continue to participate in school group activities. The information for how to apply for a medical exemption can be found on the state website: https://cair-me.cdph.ca.gov/homeStudents must meet all specified criteria to participate in on-campus group activities. Those who do not meet the immunization requirements may enroll in Mountain Oaks as Independent Study students only.If you have any questions about your immunization status at our school, please feel free to call me (Kathleen Lewis @ 754-0532, ext. 2262) or the Mountain Oaks Administrative Services Coordinator, Samantha at 754-0532, ext. 2258Please click on the title for more information. Volleyball 25-26 We are starting the Girls' Volleyball sign ups for next school year. This is for 7-12th grade girls. Seventh and eighth graders can "Red Shirt" which means they can practice with the team but they are not able to play in the games because it is a high school league. We will have a Volleyball Orientation on August 11th immediately following Kick-Off-Kamp. We would like to have all players and their parents attend the meeting. All players will need to complete an Athletic Packet and have a physical done before they can begin practicing with the team. Click on the title for more information. Posted 5/27/25
