FAFSA Information

High school seniors — attend a Cash for College workshop, complete an exit survey, apply for a Cal Grant by the March 2 deadline, and you could qualify for an extra $1,000 incentive scholarship! Students eligible for instate tuition assistance (AB 540) may also qualify for the incentive scholarship.

The FAFSA covers state (Cal) and federal (Pell) grants which can help you pay for college or trades. Grants are different from loans, in that they are given to you for school expenses and tuition and are not paid back like a loan. As long as you keep your grade point average at C and above and take a minimum of 6 units - usually 2 classes - you can oftentimes qualify for these grants. The amount that you can receive depends on family size and income. A higher GPA will also help you receive more grant money, like the Cal Grant A Competitive Award.

Hello seniors and early grad juniors,

2022-23 FAFSA will be available starting on Oct. 1, 2021. The FAFSA provides state and federal grants to cover tuition and college expenses. FAFSA can also cover trades at community college.

Additionally, any student who wants a Promise (tuition) Grant from their local community college must have filed a FAFSA to receive the grant.
