Just a friendly reminder that the 2024-2025 Delta Scholarship Application is open!

Upcoming campus workshops (open to students with Delta IDs) about the scholarship application process/essay writing:

Thursday, March 7, 3-4pm: Holt 201

Beginning January 1, 2024, any student who plans to be enrolled in at least six units at Delta in the fall of 2024, or who will be graduating and transferring in the fall, may submit the general scholarship application online in the AwardSpring platform. We offer over 150 Delta scholarships, and all the answers to the questions on the application will filter the student’s application toward all the scholarships for which they meet the requirements.

All applicants will be required to include contact info for an academic reference and a personal reference. When the student submits their application, an email to the person of reference will be generated in the AwardSpring system and the person of reference will receive a link to complete the recommendation online. The academic reference is a person that can speak to their academic performance. The personal reference should be someone who can speak to things such as the student’s personal integrity, community involvement, and work ethic. The AwardSpring platform will send this person an email with instructions on how they can directly upload their reference online.

The application will close on April 2, 2024, and then the application review process begins. Applications are reviewed by their designated reviewers, which could be the donor or a faculty committee, etc. If there is no designated reviewer, selections are made by the SJDC Application Review Board, which is created each year and consists of volunteer Delta staff and faculty.

All applicants will be notified of their selection status in June, and asked to sign and return their scholarship agreement letter. Then, if they remain eligible, their award money will be posted to their student account the first week of fall 2024 semester.

eQuality Scholarship Collaboration I pleased to announce its 35^th annual scholarship program. In 2023, eQuality awarded 25 scholarships totaling $192,000 to graduating high school students, as well as community college transfer and medical students. For 2024, they expect to award 15 $6,000 scholarships as well as four scholarships specifically for Oakland Unified School District graduates that are renewable for a total of $12,000 each.

Applicants for high school and community college transfer scholarships must:  

• Be a resident of or attend a high school/community college in northern or central California
• Have completed or complete high school (or equivalent) or community college between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2023; and
• Plan to  attend or have begun attending a U.S. accredited post-secondary institution (college, university, or vocational/trade school) for the first time in 2024.
