Congratulations 2019 ROV Ranger Team! Congratulations to our 2019 ROV Ranger Team for winning the Harry Bohm/Jill Zande “Sharkpedo” Award at the Marine Advanced Technology Education (M.A.T.E.) World Championship Competition in Kingsport, Tennessee! This award was for the best Engineering Innovation and Originality, thinking outside the box, of an underwater ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle). Mt. Oaks' sponsored team consisted of Mt. Oaks' seniors Shannon Woodside and Hans Baschy, and Brett Harte student Lars Baschy. After placing 2nd overall and 1st in the Engineering Presentation at Monterey Regional, the team continued working and practicing for the past month before driving to Tennessee. The top 10% of teams from around the world made up the 70 teams from 18 countries who competed at this exciting 3-day event. It was a well-deserved honor and opportunity for our amazing students. Thank you to our project advisors Rose Justi and Stephanie Woodside, MaryAnne Garamendi, Monika Riedel, and all who contributed for the team expenses, especially the Mt. Oaks Board, GoFundMe benefactors, and San Andreas' Napa Auto Parts. Click article title to see pictures.
