Seniors Only Graduation Survey

Dear Mountain Oaks Seniors,

Thank you to the Seniors who attended the meeting on Tuesday, April 13.  I enjoyed seeing all of you and I appreciate your attention and participation in this matter.  We believe our Graduating Seniors best represent the Mission and Vision of Mountain Oaks School, and we are excited to be part of your lives during this time of growth and transition.

As a review, due to Public Health Guidelines Mountain Oaks Graduation must take place outside this year and there are really only two viable options for moving forward with Graduation.

For reference, here are the Graduation Formats discussed today:

Choice 1:  A Drive-Thru or Parade-Style Graduation (similar to what was held for the Class of 2020 last year).  To our surprise, many people enjoyed this format of graduation last year.  It was considered very personal and allowed each student to have the spotlight.  It allowed for more pictures and time on stage than a typical graduation.  While it didn't feel like a "traditional" graduation many students and staff really did appreciate the attention this format provided every student.  Another thing many people liked was the fact that they did not have to sit through an entire Ceremony in the sun.  Conversely, there were some that missed a more traditional type of graduation.  You can view an example of what graduation might look like here:  https://youtu.be/sCH7mp5y8p0

Choice 2:  Calaveras County Fairgrounds and a more "traditional" type of graduation with safety protocols in place.  During today's meeting, there were some very good points made about having a more traditional graduation so all the Seniors could see each other one last time.  The Fairgrounds is one of the only venues in the County that can accommodate the number of people we would like to invite while adhering to the safety guidelines and protocols we must follow.  The Fairgrounds Venue would be a fenced venue and the families would receive tickets for the event.  Only those with tickets will be allowed to participate in the event.  Only families in the same household will be permitted to sit together and Social Distancing Protocols will be in place.  Students will be separated from the audience for the duration of the event which is anticipated to last between 2-3 hours.

Regarding how many people/family members can attend for each student:  It is anticipated we will allow approx. 5-7 family members per student to attend/participate in either graduation format.  We will determine the exact number in the next couple of weeks.

Will masks be required?  Yes, Masks are required at both events.
