Language Arts Websites

This is an awesome free website where you can either enter your own spelling words or use one of the already prepared lists. You can practice your words and take your spelling test online. Parents, be sure to register as a teacher at Mountain Oaks to have access to all parts of the program. There are also a variety of other Language Arts resources at this site.
Reading Rockets is a national multimedia project offering information and resources on how young kids learn to read, why so many struggle, and how caring adults can help.
This is a web-based literacy program for boys. Our mission is to help boys become self-motivated, lifelong readers.

Math Websites

The idea behind the site is to offer mathematics as well as some fun bits, and to combine the two wherever possible. The main content of the site is aimed at Kinder to Year 12, however you will find some more complex stuff. Hopefully there should be something for everybody. Quality is important to us. We have Mathematics Teachers, Mathematicians and many others work on the site. Typically each page is reviewed by at least three qualifiied people, plus millions of people view the site and they tell us if they don't agree! The site will continue to grow over time. This is a math tutoring website created by one of our Mountain Oaks teachers. It has lessons directly aligned with textbooks and also free-standing complete pre-algebra and algebra courses taught by an NCLB compliant teacher. There are hundreds of hours of lessons available. This site is free to Mountain Oaks families. Use the same user name as for Ed1Stop and the password is parents (with an s). If you do not have the Ed1Stop user name, ask your mentor teacher.
This site contains the techniques, tips, and secrets used by master teachers! It also has a number of free interactive multiplication games. Car Wash seems to be a favorite.
AAA Math features a comprehensive set of interactive arithmetic lessons. Unlimited practice is available on each topic which allows thorough mastery of the concepts.
