  • Yearbook 2014-2015
We are taking orders for the 2014-2015 yearbook.  This year, we will only be offering hardcover yearbooks.  This is a better deal, because we get 30 more pages and the price is about the same for hardcover as we paid for a softcover last year.  Families have the option to order online at http://tinyurl.com/ko8e4wg or you can order through the school. Orders must be placed by 8/4/15 (no exceptions). Students may pay an additional $4.95 to have their yearbook personalized.  The yearbooks will be ready to pick up on 9/1/15.
We still need photos for most of the school events.  We would love to have support from our families and students by helping us get photos together.  The yearbook company we are using this year allows us to have parents and students  upload photos to their site for the school to use on the yearbook.  To upload the photos please visit: link.entourageyearbooks.com and type in Mountain Oaks School in the "Search for your School" field. Parents, family members, seniors and friends will also be able to upload the Senior Notes to the yearbook website.  Or, you can bring in your camera card or send pictures via email to me at shamilton@ccoe.k12.ca.us or post them on Facebook or Instragram using #MountainOaks.  We would even love to have students' selfies at the school with their friends.

Mountain Oaks students have an opportunity to take the ASVAB assessment.  It is proctored by the military for entrance screening, but it’s so much more.  It actually gives you an opportunity to see what your strengths and weaknesses might be in the career fields.  It’s pretty difficult these days to decide a career, so why not take an assessment and receive great feedback to help you in your choices?  If you are interested in the military, here’s your chance to get started.  If not, please don’t shy away.  You can use this assessment for your own personal knowledge, or to get ready for college.  Mountain Oaks will not release any information to military recruiters!!

  • Merlyn Storm Scholarship
Merlyn Storm was our former college/career counselor. She was also an active outdoor enthusiast, who led summer trail crews for teenagers through the Student Conservation Association. Conservation, the environment, and travel were her passion. Unfortunately, at the end of last year, Merlyn died. In keeping with her love for both the environment and helping students achieve their career goals, she left Mountain Oaks School some grant money for students who want to make a difference in the environment. Let's honor Merlyn's legacy by helping the world be an even better place for future generations!

Here are the qualifications for the Merlyn Storm $500-$750 Environmental Grant:

Student must be a Mountain Oaks junior or senior and have an interest in environmental concerns that benefit the earth. This grant can be used to pursue college, apprenticeship, vocational education or travel relating to environmental issues, i.e. forestry, water or air quality, eco-travel, wildlife care, forest restoration, animal rehabilitation, search and rescue, organic gardening or a related activity. The Mountain Oaks scholarship packet, including a narrative on the intended use of the grant, must be completed in accordance with the Mountain Oaks scholarship application schedule. *Note: This year, since this scholarship has a late start, the due date for the essay and application (for this scholarship only) will be April 15th.

  • New Mountain Oaks Scholarship
Mountain Oaks has just set up our own scholarship fund for a graduating student. We would like to be able to offer it this year. This scholarship is not based solely on a high GPA.  We have students who have shown great improvement or have donated a lot of their time to community service or activities to benefit the school. Students have to write an essay of their plans and complete the Mt Oaks application and activity page, in addition to attending a college or trade school in the fall. If you would like to donate to this fund - or have any questions - please contact Sisene at 754-0532, ext 2231. You can also send or drop off a check made out to Mountain Oaks School and marked in the memo as a scholarship fund donation. If we receive enough donations this spring, we can offer this scholarship to a student from the graduating class of 2015. Please feel free to share this info with others in the community on Facebook or through emails. Thank you!
