Fall 2008 Workshop Schedule

Notes on Workshops:
The US History class will be focusing on The Presidents Ladies.
The World History class will use genealogy to trace family roots while learning about world history.

Mandatory Workshop Instructor Meeting
A Mandatory Workshop Instructor meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 20th, from 3:00 to 4:00 PM (after the Back-to-School Potluck).

Dropping Off Students
Please do not drop your children off at the site or any off-site workshops at anytime without at least one fingerprinted, TB cleared "qualified" adult willing to receive them, and be responsible for them.  This is mandated by our school liability insurance.

Become a "Qualified" Adult
"Qualified" adults are present at all Mt. Oaks activities or workshops until all participants have left. We must have two "qualified" adults present at all Mt. Oaks events. This becomes especially important for off-site events, and some events have had to be cancelled because there were not qualified adults available. It's easy to become a qualified adult, and all parents are eligible. Here is how to do this.

Attendance at Workshops
Attendance at all workshops offered by the Amador Site will be based on the following priorities:
1. Enrolled students who either live in Amador County or have chosen the Amador site as their “site of choice”.
2. Enrolled students (meeting the above guidelines) wishing to repeat a session.  (Such as more than one pottery class.)
3. Non-Amador enrolled students.
4. Non-Amador enrolled students wishing to repeat a session.
5. Parents and un-enrolled siblings.

FIELD TRIPS

Volunteer Opportunities

All families who have children enrolled in Mt. Oaks are required to volunteer four hours of support services to the school each month. Ask when you are the site for ways you can volunteer. Special opportunities will be listed below (call 296-2552, ext. 0).

Tracy R. has volunteered to be the Volunteer Coordinator for the Ione site. Thanks, Tracy!

• The Amador Site is looking for a parent/guardian to volunteer to be our coordinator for fundraising and grant requests to support our workshop programs.
• Recycle paper and bottles.
