MINUTES

Amador Workshop Committee

Monday, November 5, 2007; 1:30 pm

1.         CALL TO ORDER: 13:30

1.1.  Request Facilitator for this meeting: Marie S. was absent due to the Monterey Bay trip so Anne volunteered.

3.        CONSENT AGENDA

3.1.  Approval of Agenda:  with changes; Richard/Janet, unanimous in favor.

3.2.  Approval of previous minutes:  Janet/Anne, unanimous in favor.

4.        COMMENTS/ANNOUNCMENTS

4.1.  No workshops at Pine Grove the week of November 19th with the exception of Laurie Story’s Monday workshops and the Brown Academy Schedule. The Pine Grove site will be closed Thursday, November 22 and Friday, November 23rd for Thanksgiving.  (Melissa)

 

5.        REPORTS

 

5.1.  Ad Hoc Committee (Anne) Kathleen F. is still editing the Workshop Instructor manual. In the mean time we are using as it is. It will be coming back to for Tri-county approval for consistency.

5.2.  Brown Report (Anne) -- Richard reported on the recent meeting with both Governing Boards about the Brown Academy which included dress code and code of conduct.  All instructors will be TB tested and Fingerprinted at Brown.  A survey will be coming out to the families of Brown Academy this week to gain a sense of where people are at.  Another meeting will take place on 11/15.

5.3.  Workshop Progress Updates and Budget (Melissa) – An updated budget report and current workshop tracking statistics was passed out.  Discussion about the various workshops took place. It was decided  to continue classes as normal for the rest of the semester

7.        OLD BUSINESS

7.1.  Pottery Policies (Rose) – Rose was absent due to the Monterey Bay Aquarium Trip so Janet presented. A review of the pottery policy that Rose handed out to Pottery participants took place. General discussion about pottery policy took place, including the previous policy about the time cutoff and qualified adults. The policy will be taken to the All-Sites workshop meeting.

 

 

 

8.        NEW BUSINESS

8.1.  Pottery Policies (Rose) – Moved to 7.1

8.2.  Set day and time for next Workshop Committee Meeting. (Anne) Set for the first Monday, 1:30 to 3:30. December 3rd.

8.3.  Request for Science and Cooking (Anne) – Monica G. is doing a cooking class in Ione that costs approximately $15 per week.  Discussion about making the Cooking class a partial fee based workshop took place.   Richard/Anne made a motion to support cooking class by purchasing supplies at Sanghera’s with the open PO there. Motion was passed unanimously.

8.4.  Workshop Evaluations (Anne) – Workshop evaluations are this week. Melissa will get evaluations from the families including evaluations from families who dropped workshops for one reason or another.

8.5.  Senior Project Soccer Workshop (Anne) Soccer Workshop in Ione proposal by 3 seniors in Ione.  Discussion took place about funding the project as far as items needed. A suggestion was made to check the foundation budget for fund raising money. An interest sheet is already posted at Ione with 7 participants and a sign up sheet will be placed at the Pine Grove site. Discussion took place on when the class could take place and a possible day was on Wednesday afternoon with Co-Ed PE or when the possible available qualified adults can be there. Janet moved that the Soccer class be accepted if there are enough kids and if the money to purchase their request is available. Richard seconded. Passed unanimously. 

8.6.  Cooking Class (Anne) (see minutes for 8.3)

8.7.  Proposal for Spring Workshop (Bob) – Bob proposed a workshop for the high school kids for the spring semester. It is a map reading class he taught for Jr. College.  He passed out his proposal for a 3 hour weekly class and could involve a Service Learning project. Anne suggested we put up an interest survey for the class.

8.8.  Laurie Story’s Musical Drama presentations are set for December 1st at the Pine Grove Town hall and on Monday, December 3rd at the Jackson Senior Center (11:30-1:30).
