Join Us for Mt. Oaks 14th Annual Point Reyes Science Camp Adventure!
Mt. Oaks Annual Point Reyes Science Camp will be Tuesday through Friday, September 2nd  to 5th, 2008. We stay at a beautiful center in the heart of the Point Reyes National Seashore, the Clem Miller Educational Center. The Center has a main lodge/dining room/kitchen/library facility and five rustic cabins that will sleep up to 80 people.
Tidepooling, bird banding, boating, night hikes, campfires, pond explorations, tule elk, marine laboratory studies, bat workshops, oyster farms, and beach play are some of the activities we’ve offered over the years. Families arrive between 11:00 AM and 12:00 noon on Tuesday for camp orientation, and are expected to stay until about 12:00 noon on Friday, or until camp inspection is over.
The cost is $40.00 for students (K-12), $120.00 for adults. A limited number of scholarships are available.
The camp is full, but names are being accepted on a waiting list. Call Jacqueline at 754-0532, ext. 227, to sign up.
Mandatory meetings for all attending this Science Camp will be held in San Andreas on Wednesday, August 27th, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, and in Ione on Thursday, August 28th, at 3:30 PM.
Students are expected to research a topic on Point Reyes and do a three to five minute oral presentation, with visual support (pictures, demonstrations) at our August meeting. Packets of information about Point Reyes will be mailed to those who have signed up on August 1st. Students may use information from the packets or do their own research for their presentations.
