The following activities are not sponsored by Mountain Oaks. However, these are activities that might be of interest to Mtn. Oaks families. If you have something you want posted, please email it to webmaster.

Host a Foreign Student
Have you ever considered hosting a foreign student for a couple of weeks during the summer?  Now is a great opportunity to enjoy a 7-12th grade Japanese boy or girl from July 31st to Aug 18th.  They’ll be attending classes in English and American culture from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday in the Valley Springs area, and doing whatever your family does in the evenings and on weekends.  They have their own pocket money and their field trips are paid for; All they require is an open home.  Call Terry H. with Cultural Homestay International at 772-9389 or 217-4746 for more information.

2008 Home=Education Conference
August 14th - 17th
Radisson Hotel, Sacramento
This annual conference features a full slate of diverse activities for adults, teens, and kids of all ages. The teen program is completely built and run by homeschooled teens. This year the conference organizers have greatly expanded offerings for young children and are pulling together a fantastic collection of hands-on family learning activities that are sure to help you connect your family to the homeschooling community as a whole.
The theme this year is Learning Without Limits, and focuses on the quest to educate our children from the early years through the high school and college years. For more information, go to http://www.hscconference.com/.
